Association – Rencontres de la Haute Romanche

Les Rencontres de la Haute Romanche is a project for sustainable artistic and cultural development in the Pays du Grand Briançonnais.

They have opted for a joyful itinerancy, taking over places where people live: village squares, community halls, schools, collective living spaces, EHPAD, homes…

Artistic proposals take on a variety of forms, always adapted to the environment and the inhabitants: shows and workshops for schoolchildren, clowns accompanying dependent elderly people, artistic forms designed for indoors or outdoors…

In this spirit, we seek to reach out to audiences who are far from or unable to access artistic and cultural offerings.

Based in the Pays du Grand Briançonnais region, our activities are aimed at the entire population, with a particular focus on people, children and adults who are farthest from town centers, as well as dependent elderly people living in EHPAD and their carers – medical and social teams and families.

They are structured around

– Year-round touring programming in local homes, living spaces and public spaces, with a summer highlight – a traveling festival.

– A program of artistic and cultural education for schoolchildren: shows and workshops to raise awareness and encourage artistic practice within the school.

– Artists' residencies combining creation, practical workshops and shared creation projects.

– A program of artistic interventions in nursing homes for residents, families and caregivers (Jour de clown).

We work in cooperation with a network of local players: the Théâtre du Briançonnais, elected representatives and municipal staff from partner towns, the Grandes Vallées and Montgenèvre tourist offices, partner teachers, social centers (L'Argentière and Briançon), care teams from the L'Argentière and Briançon EHPADs, etc. – a wide range of contacts who are also represented on the structure's governing bodies.
