PPAM

A strategic asset

Perfumed, aromatic and medicinal plants (PPAM) play an increasingly important role in the agricultural and economic landscape of the Hautes-Alpes. Driven by climate change, which is reshuffling the cards in agricultural production, they represent an opportunity for diversification and value creation. Against this backdrop, the local Végét’Alpes network federates farmers, pickers, processors and distributors around a single ambition: to structure and develop a sustainable industry.

Ahigh-potential territory

Today, the PPAM sector benefits from the region’s specific assets: rich biodiversity, well-preserved soils and recognized agricultural know-how. A recent assessment of the sector revealed significant development potential, particularly for lavender, thyme, sage and medicinal plants for the cosmetics and wellness markets.

Végét’Alpes
a common roadmap

To support this dynamic, a joint roadmap has been drawn up. It sets out priorities: to reinforce the quality and traceability of production, increase local processing, improve marketing and consolidate export outlets. The objective is clear: to make the Hautes-Alpes a benchmark region for PPAM.

partners
mobilized

The success of the industry relies on close cooperation between all the players involved. Local farmers and pickers, processing companies, research organizations and local authorities are just some of the partners involved. Together, they help create economic synergies that enhance the attractiveness of the département. Flagship companies include Acanthis Laboratoire, Karandja, La Plantivore, Gayral-Reynier and Altiflore.
