From the village of La Grave, a designated “Village d’alpinisme des Écrins“, cable cars take visitors up to breathtaking panoramas: glistening glaciers, imposing seracs, suspended refuges… The mountain offers itself raw, unvarnished.
The freeride kingdom
There are no groomed pistes up there. La Grave-La Meije is 100% freeride. We ski under the mythical cable cars, between crevasses, couloirs and deep powder. No compromises: this is the pure experience that’s been dubbed the Mecca of freeride. Here, the world’s best riders come to confront the very essence of the mountain. And to tame this untamed terrain, it’s best to surround yourself with seasoned guides. A stone’s throw away, the Chazelet Nordic site offers skiing for all.

Derby de La Meije
A mythical descent from the glaciers of La Grave to the village, where you set off without beacons to draw your own line in the powder. Skis, snowboards, telemark skis, monoskis or homemade contraptions: anything goes, as long as it’s gliding and a good dose of daring.
Ski mountaineering
First snow
The season kicks off with a ski touring day at Arsine, organized by the Bureau des Guides de la Grave and Objectif Meije. On the program: practical workshops (equipment, DVA, snow, cartography, techniques), equipment tests and introductory or advanced courses.
Telemark
Meijdo Telemark
From challenging descents on the legendary La Grave ski area to parties where the music warms as much as the mulled wine, the event celebrates the freedom of the curve as much as the freedom of the encounter. It’s a weekend that’s sporty, joyful and, frankly, atypical, just like the spot that hosts it.
