A hike up Arpelin
The white shuttles
A network of buses and shuttles takes you the last few kilometers to your base camp:
- Resalp Link Bus serves Montgenèvre, Briançon, the Clarée Valley…
- Neige Express offers connections to many resorts in the Southern Alps.
- ZOU! lines act as a link between the main routes and the smaller snow-covered passes.
Loi Montagne: equip your vehicle
In winter, you have to deal with snow and ice. That’s where the famous Loi Montagne II comes in. From November 1 to March 31, cars must be fitted with winter tires (or certified 4-season tires) or have chains/socks ready to put on. Don’t worry: no one will force you to sleep in your trunk if you’ve forgotten your chains. But if you are stopped, the fine is €135.
