The Bureau d’Accueil des Tournages (B.A.T.), a vector of attractiveness
With economic spin-offs from film shoots estimated at 200 million euros per year, the Southern Alps are the second most popular region in France for film shoots, after Ile de France, with 5,000 days of filming each year. For several years now, the Southern Alps have been trying to make the most of this situation, by attracting audiovisual productions (television and cinema) in search of new, original and even unprecedented settings and wide open spaces between “lavender and glaciers”. The Hautes-Alpes Development Agency, commissioned by the Southern Region since 2018, is the local relay via its Bureau d’accueil des tournages pour les productions audiovisuelles. This initiative follows a simple observation: mountain destinations are attracting more and more audiovisual productions.

The support provided by the Agence de Développement and its Bureau d’accueil des tournages helps productions to prepare for filming, by helping them to find locations, apply for permits and establish contacts with local authorities. The aim is also to increase direct economic spin-offs by encouraging productions to recruit local film technicians and service providers (shooting canteens, equipment rentals….).
Did you know?
Since January 2024, the Hautes-Alpes has become a veritable movie set, with almost 300 days of filming. Major feature films such as L’Engloutie (Clarée, Vallouise), La Tour de Glace (La Grave, Chazelet) or Laurent dans le vent (Serre-Ponçon), popular series such as Alex Hugo in the Briançonnais, as well as short films, documentaries and commercials: the diversity of productions testifies to the attractiveness of the region. From the emblematic peaks of the Izoard pass to the shores of Serre-Ponçon, the landscapes inspire as much as they seduce. And the adventure continues: several major film shoots are already planned for 2025 and 2026.
